Hi, can anyone please advise how to change ASR 1001 router interface speed from default to speed 100? I can't find the command

speed

under interface config. thanks in advance!

Because it is a fiber port, you cannot manually change

speed/duplex

The speed of the fiber link is determined by the optics used in the transceivers and the capabilities of the fiber cables.

Yes, you should be able to use a (QoS) policer or shaper to set egress rate.  You can also use a policer for ingress rate.  BTW often the

default parameters

for policers achieve an effective rate lower than configured.

Hello @Herman2018,

Do

no negociation auto

command under interface. After that

speed and duplex

command should be available.

thanks M02@rt37  for your advice. the command

no negociation auto

is already configured on the interface, but still no

speed

command.

Port in question is not transceiver using port?

Would you identify the actual ASR model, port, IOS version and feature licences?

Thanks @Joseph W. Doherty for your reply.

sFP GLC-LH-SMD

inserted into this port. the router model

ASR1001-X, OS version is 3.16.05.S

license is adventerprise.

M02@rt37 , this  interface is with a

SFP GLC-LH-SMD

inserted. HOw to change the speed?

does it support static 100M with this SFP?

@Herman2018

GLC-LH-SMD -- 1G

single mode fiber

This is fiber port, you cannot manually change speed.

Thanks @Joseph W. Doherty for your advice. So how can manually limit the transmit speed? Thanks. only can use QoS?

"The speed of the fiber link is determined by the optics used in the transceivers and the capabilities of the fiber cables."

To clarify, the cable's "capabilities", in regard to speed, are, more-or-less, do they support the optical interface at the distance being used.  If they do, you should obtain the expected speed.  If not either your effective speed will be less, due to errors, or worst case, link won't come up.

I realize this is an old thread. But the solution is not entirely correct. GLC-TE is listed as a compatible SFP and that would make the port electrical (Ethernet)

Do the options appear after ethernet SFP is inserted?
