Hi, how to check the throughput on catalyst 8300 router? Is the output of the  following command representing the overall licensed throughput of the router or only represent the throughput of VPN only? Can someone pls advise? thanks in advance! I only see this command is available.

Device# show platform hardware throughput crypto

Hi @balaji.bandi M02@rt37 @MHM Cisco World @Torbjørn , I saw the cisco document statement below. Throughput is Encrypted Throughput. So is the normal throughput = crypt throughput? We have purchased 1G Agg network advantage license, so need to config throughput level with the command "platform hardware throughput crypto 1G"?

You do not use command like 1G when you applied the License:

smart License or traditional follow below guide :

hi @balaji.bandi , I am still confused because there is no such command "show platform hardware throughput level". In the Cisco guide, it seems the user needs to config throughput level with the command "platform hardware throughput crypto 10M/25M/100M/1G ...

Looking at some of your output, your HSEC License not active, and you device throughput only 250MB default.

So you need to get License to add the document i have provided which has steps.

Guidelines for using an HSECK9 license

Hi @balaji.bandi , for HSECK9 license, I know how to activate it. Here I just want to know how to check normal entitled throughput (not encrypted data).

One of your output show that right ? or am i missing something here ? (or we are both looking each other wrong output)

hi @balaji.bandi , this is crypto throughput. Is crypto throughput the same as the normal data throughput? I have asked the same question many times. I think crypto throughput is about encrypted traffics.

"Configure Licenses and Throughput for Catalyst 8000 Series Physical Platforms", not fully understand what are the default settings of new router, what need to configure by the user. This technical document is very confused.

In General we use Router to connect to WAN side for WAN connectivity or s2S VPN connectivity,

So the License level based on WAN Throughout License when you passing WAN Interface.

If you Looking to LAN to LAN inside the Maximum through put you get based on the interface or mentioned Datasheet (this one i have not tested - how much you get). But in the Lan you should get Wire speed.

But when the traffic go via WAN then the License Level will be defined and that is maximum throughput you get or no License default throughput you get. (If you cross the Default  you can see packet Drops and warning  you will see License Level reached in the Logs)

example :

Maximum Rx Bandwidth limit of 250000 Kbps reached

Hope this helps you. you can do the testing in your environment to get clarity.
