On 2600 series router I am looking for a feature that can send application specific traffic to my network management tool so that I can gather which application is sending how much data on an interface.
Thanks

hi
In this case u can make use of NBAR but make sure that your box is having enough resources to handle the protocol based statistics.
Once you enable NBAR under particular interface you will get the stats based on no of bytes ,no of packets of the traffic pattern.
i have seen importing these database from the router to an external management system wherein you can compile them up for your own reference and understanding about the traffic pattern.
would suggest to check out this link too for more info in NBAR..

NBAR is an interesting possibility. I have recently been looking at a tool that analyzes NetFlow records and among other things can identify the top talking stations and the most used protocols. Enabling NetFlow and exporting the NetFlow records would have less impact on the router than NBAR and might be useful, if his network management has the ability to analyze NetFlow.
