ROM: Bootstrap program is C2960S board boot loader
BOOTLDR: C2960S Boot Loader (C2960S-HBOOT-M) Version 12.2(55r)SE1, RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc1)
uit-c2960s-sw1 uptime is 39 minutes
System returned to ROM by power-on
System restarted at 01:27:13 UTC Wed Mar 30 2011
System image file is "flash:c2960s-universalk9-mz.152-2a.E1.bin"
and when i run "ip routing" in conf t, it says unknown command. does "universal9" firmware not support ip routing?
or what am i doing wrong here? thanks
what i need is to have ip routing, ip nat inside and ip nat outside on a C2960S

This is switch does not do NAT as per i know.
But ip routing should work.
config t
ip routing
end
still not working
config t
ip ? (post all the output what you see there)
EDIT : while i was edited the post thinking sdm prefer - @Torbjørn already posted same information - if this is correct he was one should get points.
also check sdm prefer :

You have to change SDM template to be able to enable ip routing with the following command:
sdm prefer lanbase-routing
You can read more about this in this config guide: https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/switches/lan/catalyst2960/software/release/12-2_55_se/configuration/guide/scg_2960/swipstatrout.html#14217

You are correct
Sdm I think issue here.

thanks everyone.
indeed using the lanbase-routing template let me enter ip routing. however ip nat command is not there.
so there's no way to get that working on a C2960S-UNIVERSALK9-M, running "flash:c2960s-universalk9-mz.152-2a.E1.bin"?
why did i think that the set of commands are purely depending on the firmware. on an "if it fits, it sits" base. sigh.
just saw this article, where the fellow admin has the same box (?) using an older firmware and seemingly is able to use "ip nat" as of his comment (3rd reply)
should i give firmware c2960s-universalk9-mz.150-2a.SE9.bin a try?

any way you can suggest that would enable me to do "ip nat"? unofficial / workaround too, we only need to set this system up to stage and set up our new aruba devices. i want to emulate the devices we get our network connection from. bgp+nat.
if not, then which is the cheapest cisco that is capable of nat+bgp? no fancy stuff, 2 devices (we get 2 lines from 2 different locations), 1 line in, 1 line out doesn't matter what kind (lan/fc) of interface. speed indifferent also. we have 5x class b networks though.

Glad SDM Prefer works to enable ip routing.
as i was mentioned before - Cisco 2960 is Switch not capable of doing ip NAT and not possible.
the thread you referring mentioned get 2911 router to do the NAT if you can refer again that context.
You can different models of router of cisco has 2 dual WAN connections (depends how much money you looking to spend)
if you looking for user and end of life routers (if this for testing) you can by 800/ 1800/ 1900/2900 Router / 3 Router get cheaper.
which can do the job NAT and BGP - again router need License for more WAN throughput to support.
