N9K MAC Learning issue

amit.fernandes

Level 1

We recently installed new ToR N9K switches replace our EOL Catalyst 4948s.

Some of the clients on this device could not connect to the network post an OS upgrade & reboot of the clients.

The N9K port shows up/up but could not see the client MAC. We moved it to an adjacent port. The MAC was learned immediately  and the client was back on the network.

The switches are N9K-C93108TC-EX with 48 100M/1G/10G port and 7.0(3)I4(3).

Anyone with similar issues ?

Thanks.

Hi @amit.fernandes

As @Francesco Molino  mentioned, looks like CSCvc14970 is affecting you.

Note that:

Conditions:
N9K-C93108TC-EX running 7.0(3)I4(2) or 7.0(3)I4(3)

Upgrade to a more mature version to fix the defect. You can check this link for current and upcoming recommended releases:

https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/switches/datacenter/nexus9000/sw/recommended_release/b_Minimum_and_Recommended_Cisco_NX-OS_Releases_for_Cisco_Nexus_9000_Series_Switches.html

Also, before performing the upgrade, I strongly advise you to read the release notes and upgrade guides for the target NXOS image. Here are the repositories with all guides:

Upgrade guides: https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/switches/nexus-9000-series-switches/products-installation-guides-list.html

Release notes: https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/switches/nexus-9000-series-switches/products-release-notes-list.html

Regards,

Sergiu

This seems to be the issue with code, as you bought a new device the cisco might have shipped with default NXoS and its recommended to upgrade the device to below version

We have faced similar issues and it got fixed after upgrade.

Cisco Nexus 9000 Series switches

7.0(3)I7(8)
