QoS classification and marking

Hi,

I have one question reg. Classification done for QoS on routers.  Basically Classifying traffic into different groups can be done in two ways ,

1) using Acess lists

2)  NBAR.

Classifying using NBAR is more flexible way than ACLs. becasue some applications may use different port numbers instead of standard ones.

so if we use NBAR feature, we can identify the traffic passing through our device based on protocol even that application using random port number.

But , It is mentioned that if we have MPLS connectivity for our WAN,  we can not use NBAR for qos.

These days so many companies  use MPLS . then how can they have more flexibility  in traffic classification if they can not use NBAR. ?

Is there any other method like NBAR ?

OR

Is that MPLS experimental bits they depend on ?

Thanks,

Ajay

Where did you read that you can't used NBAR with MPLS?

Customer CE router facing provider's PE router can certainly use NBAR for QOS classification.
