Hi All,

I have CISCO7606-S chassi running with "c7600rsp72043-adventerprisek9-mz.122-33.SRE8.bin" were am using
" RSP720-3C-GE " .Had observed the below error while executing "sh mls qos module 5"

#sh mls qos module 5
The module in slot: 5 is not a Distributed Feature Card

Can any one clarify what is this error , is this RSP720 will support MLS QoS feature.

What's in slot 5?

Basically the error is telling you the card in the slot does not have a DFC. This would be true of a sup card or a line card with a CFC.

What a 6500/7600 supports for egress QoS, generally, is very dependent on the egress card.

RSP card is there in slot 5.

So what is the next action plan need to take before configuring the MLS QOS in the chassi.?

Please suggest on the above.

None.

Go ahead and try to define the QoS policy you want.

If you try to do something that's not supported, the IOS should complain when you try to configure it.

On your sups, you might be limited to QoS capabilities support on the sup ports. (I've found sup ports are often QoS feature poor compared to some line card ports.)

Hi Joseph,

Tanks for the clarification.

Could you please share some cisco doc where it is telling the QOS feature compatability in "RSP720-3C-GE" and share the document where it is telling sup ports are often QoS feature poor compared to some line card ports.

Sorry, I don't have such references on-hand. I would have to dig for such documentation. Hopefully you might do that as well as I.

What you're looking for is the queuing architecture of a sup's ports, e.g. 1p7q3t.

If you don't find this for your sup, try checking for the 6500's vs-s720, which I believe is more or less the equivalent of your RSP.

Thanks alot.

Qos we can configure in vlan, port-channel or interface level, can you clarify this?

On L3 switches, usually yes.

Port-channel QoS might be set on port-channel member links. Also on some platforms, like the 6500 where different line cards supported different QoS architectures, if you use port-channel members from different QoS architecture line cards, you need to add a command to allow QoS to be used.

I'm not current on L3 switches that support QoS commands like routers. On those, you might find additional/different QoS support.

Hi Team,

Can any one help me to know the output discard limitation of the below module.
