Hello,
I have tried to reset a Cisco 2811 to factory defaults to no avail. The system is locked, meaning it's set to go immediately to username and password before doing anything else after boot up. I cannot get to ROMMON, nor can the CTRL-B break sequence allow me the option. THere is a "no-password recovery" option that apparently is set (or unset?) but I cannot work with that.
I am a newbie with the routers, but I have tried various CTRL-B breaks from bootup, to particular times through the boot up sequence.
I do NOT have "enable" (also known as "privileged EXEC") access on the router. The router, when purchased, had a username and PW that is required to even get to the basic level 1 access. Without it the PW, I can't even get to exec mode.

Remove the compact flash and any USB flash drive and you'll get into ROMmon 100%.- Mark as New

Yes I tried that, and I get the following repeating message:
Readonly ROMMON initialized
PASSWORD RECOVERY FUNCTIONALITY IS DISABLED
Compact Flash: not present
c2811 processor with 524288 kbytes of memory present
Main memory is configured to 64 bit mode with ECC enabled
And every fifth or sixth repeat it has the additional:
boot: cannot open "flash:"
an alternate boot helper program is not specified
(monitor variable "BOOTLDR" is not set)
and unable to determine first file in bootflash
loadprog: error - on file open
boot: cannot load "C2800nm-adverterprisek9-mz.123-8.T6.bin"
I appreciate any help that you can give.

PASSWORD RECOVERY FUNCTIONALITY IS DISABLED
Ahhhhh ... THIS silly thing. He he he ... That's easy!
Try this: http://www.heinzulm.com/password.php
Worked with me and a few others so it should work with you (minus the "drunk" bit) . Hope this will help.

Thank you.
I got in, but then mistyped the confreg command. I put in 0x21142.
I figured it out, the baud rate is at 2400.
I have to slow down, too excited to finally get into this router.

Ctrl-BREAK is not the same as Ctrl-B.
I kept reading to use ctrl-b and then i realized they must mean "BREAK". the BREAK key

Got it working after removing the flash memory.
Break key, ctrl + b, ESC or anything else to send break didn't work.
