Routing Issue with Loopback

Hi All,

We have a couple of Infoblox Grid (Active/Passive) each located separate DCs.

The loopback interface is configure on same subnet as physical Interfaces.

Example : -

Loopback 192.168.10.5 (VIP)

Phy1 DC1(Active) : 192.168.10.25,

Phy2 DC2 (Passive) : 192.168.10.50

When we failover from Active to Standby and manually configure Loopback 192.168.10.5 on New Active , DNS and DHCP fails.

This is a fairly basic network with Infoblox connected to Layer 2 switch off the main Core and there is a firewall.

Both DCs same setup with Stretched Layer2 networks.

Infoblox-L2Switch-->Core Router(MPLS/VPLS)-->Firewall-->Internet.

Not sure if anyone is familiar with Infoblox and if manually changing the VIP (loopback interface) IP from Master to Standby should work ?

Any ideas on what to check ?

If the Layer2 streched between DC. then you infoblox HA should as expected. - this need to review with your config and design of your organisation how you looking to failover works.

if the Layer 2 setup designed as suggested guide or  check below document and their recommendation, this question more go to infoblox rather cisco.

https://docs.infoblox.com/space/NAG8/22250074/About+HA+Pairs

Note : you have not provided what switches or how the config look your switch side ?

How to Ask The Cisco Community for Help

Hi BB,

The switches are layer2.
The solution at the moment is not to use HA but just failover and manually configure .5 IP on loopback interface of new Active at DC2.

The loopback interface has no mac adress associated so should be routed fine.

Any reason why it would stop working when failing over ?

If this ia manually Failover and you configuring .5 address other side,

also how the routing taking place anouncing that  loopback IP.

Other notes not sure how infoblox believe the VIP has moved. may be this question required to ask infoblox

looks for me you need to fix right HA setup as suggested in the URL for the system to work as expected.

suggest to contact infoblox consultant for this issue.

If i remember If the vip address is changed then isnt there a .conf file  that needs to be updated to accomodate that new address?

Hi Paul,

Not too familiar with Infoblox loopback setup.  I only know it from a switch/router where the loopback interface can be configured.   So each time the .conf file needs updating when the ip is moved ?

Do you have any information or docs to confirm?
