I'm currently running X86_64_LINUX_IOSD-UNIVERSALK9-M and encountered a bug that reboots the router. TAC advised I upgrade the IOS. I'm looking at X86_64_LINUX_IOSD-UNIVERSALK9-M. Are there any considerations I should take into account?

This router crashed on 16 July 2020 due to

cman_fp fault on fp_0_0 (rc=134).  fp_0_0

is a "generic" reason.

Are there any crashinfo files available?

What is the output to the command

sh log on uptime?

IMPORTANT:  Everyone is asking what version you want to go to because it is not possible to upgrade the firmware unless the ROMMON is upgraded.

I'm looking at 17.3.5 MD

Hello rshum,

I would advise checking ROMmon Release Requirements Matrix and Hardware Programmable Requirements:
https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/routers/asr1000/rommon/asr1000-rommon-upg-guide.html#concept_zdm_2nx_5bb

But you shouldn't have any compatibility issues.

The only thing that comes at the top of my mind is the change in licensing used (in case you have licenses installed on your box).

Since IOS-XE 17.3.2, the licensing on IOS-XE products changed from Smart Licensing to Smart Licensing using policy.

Further on the topic, I will leave here some documentation for you to check.

Configure Smart Licensing Using Policy On IOS-XE Routers - https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/ios-nx-os-software/ios-xe-17/217046-configure-smart-licensing-using-policy-o.html#anc1
