CSPC timesync and NTP issue

Jeff Eager

We are seeing our CSPC server (v2.11) attempt to hit public NTP servers. I tried setting the NTP servers via the Web UI, but no joy.

Using the CSPC CLI as 'admin' I am unable to setup NTP. I get the following:
admin# show timesync
Automatic timesync is disabled.
admin# timesync enable
Automatic timesync is already enabled.

I read the post CSPC Timesync Confusion In this post Cisco Employee Adias recommends setting a workaround of setting the Linux OS date and time manually. Unfortunately, our root password was documented incorrectly, by yours truly. Therefore, I could not set the date and time manually.

Could I get assistance configuring timesync to use our internal NTP servers, or am I SOL without the root PW?

Thanks for your time.

good to know it worked. as far as a fix we do have the request for fixes, but CSPC being on maintenance mode and likely moving to newer technologies am not sure when and if would come to fruition.

How you attempted to connect to the root ? For security reasons you cannot directly connect to root via ssh, you must first connect to user collectorlogin and then use the command su to connect to root

If you have access to the admin java shell then  you can use the commands below to set/reset them

#admin pwdreset root 90

and

admin# pwdreset collectorlogin 90

I was able to reset the root password. Thanks for that information. I also set the time manually as mentioned in another post to which you replied. I still need to point CSPC to our internal NTP servers.

do you know what is the IP and/or the NTP name it is trying to access and can you share it?

The attached PNG file is a screenshot of the public NTP servers our CSPC server is attempting to access. These are blocked by our FW. Hence the need to configure CSPC to use our internal NTP servers.

It is now set to our internal NTP servers. Workaround is in place.

Is Cisco working to address the issue of the setting not being accepted by the Web UI?
