SG300-28 Firmware & Boot

I received a new SG300-28 with FW 1.2.9.44 and Boot version 1.1.0.6.  A couple of weeks ago I had an SG500-28 and I udated that to Sx500_FW_1.3.0.62 ros and Sx500_BOOT_1.3.0.03 rfb.  I checked for the current version for the SG300-28 and I downloaded Sx300_FW_1.3.0.62.ros but didn't find anything for BOOT but they did have a MIBs_Sx300_v1.3.0.59 zip that is a folder full of mib and my file, no rfb files.

1st, what is this MIB folder for

2nd, why no updated BOOT file

3rd, since the file revisions numbers are the same for both the SG300 and SG500 are they indeed the same file or are they actually tailored to the model hence the prefaced name to the number.

4th, if the files are the same then could I, should I use the SG500's BOOT file for the SG300.  As a general rule I would never do that with out knowing so does anyone know?  I just find it odd that the SG500 had new files for both and the SG300 does not or maybe I just haven't found it yet.

Hi Vini, traditionally the boot codes have been integrated in to the firmware. On the older switches the boot and firmware were 2 separate but that proved to be quite a problem.

If you try to load the Sx500 boot in to the Sx300 switch it will likely give unknown or incorrect file type error.

Dear Partner,

Thank you for reaching the Small Business Support Community.

I could not find a BOOT file update for a SG300-28 switch, neither I did for the SG500-28 on the 'Software Download" page, so I suggest you to inquire about it with the Small Business Support Center or the Partner Helpline;

I would hope an incorrect firmware wouldn't load and throw an errorbut I wouldn't want to test that.  It was just odd since the SG500-28 had both and that's the first Cisco switch I've updated in a while, I then got 3 SG300-28's and update so I naturally expected the same procedure. The two file method was a bit convoluted to do so I concur with a single file being preferable.
