1G GBIC to 10G SFP+

Can i connect WS-G5484 (1G SX GBIC) to SFP-10G-SR (10G SR SFP+)  is this applicable?

No, you will need to use an SX SFP (GLC-SX-MM) to be compatible with the SX GBIC. The SR SFP+ does not use a compatible standard. When you swap the interface card you will also need to move the config.

Hello Mahmud,

no this is not possible as the line speeds are different 1Gbps on one side and 10Gbps on the other side.

the link will never work

Hope to help

Giuseppe

Hi Giuseppe thanks for your time and help

i think they may be working as both of them can use the same cable Wavelength (nm) 850 and the same fiber type and core size

10Gbase-SR and 1Gbase-SX are not compatable protocals. Depending on the device you are using on the 10Gig side you may be able to switch to an SX SFP (GLC-SX-MM) and set the port to 1Gig, most Nexus equpment is capable of setting the speed down.

Greg

Thanks Gregory Snipes,i appreciate your help

i am talking about Cisco 4507E with WS-X4302-GB equipped with WS-G5484 and in the other end Cisco WS-C3750X-24T-S equipped with SFP-10G-SR can they work together in 1G speed or not

The 3750X 10gig network modules can excpt either 2 10gig SFP+ or 4 1gig SFP. So, if you switch out the the SR for an SX it should work fine. You will need to move the interface configuration on the 3750X from the "T1/1/1" interface to the "G1/1/1" interface as the config for each of the modes of operation are seperated even though they use the same physical slot.

Hope this helps,

Greg

Thanks greg for your time and your help

So all i need to do is to configure the GigabitEthernet1/1 on 3750X instead of configure TenGigabitEthernet1/1 however i connect the SFP-10G-SR and the other side is 1G SX (WS-G5484) ??

correct me if i am wrong

i got it now

u can use C3KX-NM-10G with either Two 10GbE SFP+ ports or four SFP-SX

but u can't use 10G SR transceiver with 1G-SX transceiver in any way

Thanks greg
