2501 router encapsulation dot1q

can anyone tell me if the 2501 router supports the command encapsulation dot1q??

and how can upgrade the ios on my routers and switches, does it cost money??

Unfortunately no, the 2500 does not support 802.1q encapsualtion. See attached link for routers that do support it

Generally to upgrade IOS does cost money.
