Doesn't appear tone a k9 image if an image is not k9 it does have much in the way of encryption. Upgrade the iOS is applicable to a k9 image

Is there any way to find out if it is a k9 or not.  If it is just updating the is what version would support it?

I believe the image you are after is this one:

c2950-i6k212q4-mz.121-22.EA14.bin - C2950 EI and SI IOS Crypto Image

I guess I should have asked this before but where can I get these?

Normally you need a cisco contract to download the ios. Seeing that those switches are end of life I'm not sure how you would get an SSH version.  Try this url and contact cisco and ask them how to get the last sssh version they made for that model.

Thank you. I got these off eBay for help with my CCNA studies so that's us why I'm still using them.
