How to find the Gig port serial number in 3548 xl series switch. sh inventory command is not working in the switch.
Can any one assist me to find out the Gig port serial number detail's with any other commands... !! ONLY IN CLI mode. ??

I think equivalent commands to show inventory were very limited in cisco's first gen switches like the 3548 which came out in like 1995 . If you are looking for a gbic serial number then you probably would have to pull the gbic and look .

The "sh inventory" is not supported on the 2900XL/3500XL. It only started on the 2940/2950 running the EA5 IOS. If you want to know the serial number of the GBIC module, there's no other way but to pull it out and read it with a magnifying glass.
