3650-48pq-E switch Trunking issue

dhill52975

Level 1

I am fairly new at this, very new to cisco products. I'm what you would call a nub.

So my question is, I have 3650-48pq-E switch and g1/0/48 set up as a trunk port. When I issue a [show interface g1/0/48 trunk] it shows; vlans allowed on trunk as none, in fact it shows none for all fields. If I do a [show run interface g1/0/48] it shows switchport trunk allowed vlan 1-6,10 it shows the switchport mode as trunk and I also have it set for nonegotigate. If I do a [show interfaces g1/0/48 switchport] It shows the port as enabled, Admin mode = trunking, it shows the trunking vlans enabled 1-6,10. So why is it not showing that any vlans are allowed over the trunk port with the show interface trunk comand? what am I missing? It also shows the g1/0/48 port as being in vlan 1 when I do a [show vlan brief]

Can you post the output of "sh run" and "sh interface trunk"?

HTH

Thanks for your response. You had caught me after I had left work for the day.
As you asked I have attached the SHOW RUN and SHOW INTERFACES TRUNK outputs

You say you attached the outputs but I do not see them. In addition to those outputs would you also post the output of show vlan and of show interface status?

HTH

Rick

Ok I just pasted everything into the email and not through a attachment this time.
I also Included the [SHOW INT G1/0/48 TRUNK] which is where I'm not seeing my vlans showing up.

Thank you for the output. Here is what I see in the output that is important:

- 2 vlans have been configured, vlan 1 and vlan 10. Your trunk configuration lists vlans 2 through 6 but they are not present in the configuration. what are they supposed to be?

- Most important - you have no connected interfaces. Your trunk interface is not connected to anything. No vlan access port is connected to anything. With no connected interfaces both vlans will be down. When all vlans are down then the trunk will not have any vlans allowed on the trunk.

If you want the trunk to work you need to connect something to the trunk interface and it would be best is some access ports were also connected.

Thank you so very much. Connecting up the cables and assigning vlans to the other ports worked. I can't believe it was something that simple, but that is how it usually is.
