3650 stack - software upgrade fails due to non-existent process

Hi everyone, I'm having trouble loading 16.3.5b software on two separate 3650 stacks in my network.

SWITCH#$stall file flash:cat3k_caa-universalk9.16.03.05b.SPA.bin new force
Preparing install operation ...
[2]: Copying software from active switch 2 to switches 1,3,4,5
[2]: Finished copying software to switches 1,3,4,5
[1 2 3 4 5]: Starting install operation
[1]: % Non-existent process 4925 abandoned the ISSU lock. Operation aborted.
[3]: % Non-existent process 13552 abandoned the ISSU lock. Operation aborted.

When I search this error message I can't find anything. Any ideas how to fix this?

Hi,

Does each switch flash have enough space for the new image?

Also, can you first manually copy the new IOS from tftp or USB to the flash and then run the install command?

HTH

Yes each switch has enough space. I think I ran the install command as you can see in my post. The word install gets cut off though. It's installing from the flash, which I copied over via FTP

Is the stack in install mode or bundle mode?

sh ver will show you that.

HTH

Both in install mode

I can try, but what is the difference? I'm following the 16.5.3 release notes which specify to add these keywords. I was able to upgrade other 3650 stacks this way, just not these two which are giving me errors.

Reboot the entire stack and try again.
