Hi Tar image process is the best one and quite automatic, however it takes a lot of time while it's copying and extracting image within switches. What I'm doing all the time is: - copy bin file on each switch flash drive's - modify the boot variable on the master (be careful to indicate the new IOS for all switches) - Reboot them manually on evening or program the reboot through the switch itself. There is another way if you are using Cisco Prime. You can program everything and CPI will do everything fine during night. Thanks

Thanks

ALL,

Here is the service module

PID: C3KX-SM-10G

Hi,

refer to the "Catalyst 3750-X and 3560-X Network Services Module Software" section in the following link.

http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/switches/lan/catalyst3750x_3560x/software/release/15-0_1_se/release/notes/OL25302.html#wp1048167

you can use "archive download-sw" command to perform the IOS upgrade and if the service module is incompatible with the new IOS,  it will inform you about that.

AFAIK, you dont need to. it should work fine.

whats the service module you are using.

Manual Tar upgrade and BIN upgrade exactly same. if you are not going to use the Web GUI, you dont need to TAR image.

The automatic TAR method makes your job easy and you dont need to do anything.

i am a manual guy who always wants to see what is happening and wants to control what its doing. if you are such guy, you could go for manual bin method.

if you want everything to be automated and hoping not to run into any issues during the automatic method, you can go for auto TAR method.

if you being a manual guy and wants to have GUI access, go for manual TAR method..

now, the choice is yours.
