All,
Need some help please, I have a 3750x that hangs on boot.
Status LED blinks amber for 30 secs or so, turns green and then hangs at this point......
Using driver version 1 for media type 2
Base ethernet MAC Address: 2c:54:2d:9b:94:80
Xmodem file system is available.
The password-recovery mechanism is enabled.
makes no difference how long it is left, does not boot.
I have also tried holding down the mode button during boot, no difference.
I think the flash is corrupt.
Any suggestions?
Thanks

What is the settings of your console? Is Flow Control turned OFF?

Yes I have the Flow Control Off.
If I use a different switch it's perfectly ok, so it can't be the console settings.

3750X, right?
Why not use the USB console port instead?

Can you try a different computer/client?

I have also tried that, same problem :o(

If you've tried every setting and different clients and you're not getting any results, then RMA the appliance.
Is this happening to this unit only or it's happening to every Cisco products?

Did you get anywhere with this? I have a 3750E-24PD-S doing the exact same thing. I can hold the button to interrupt the boot then do flash_init and boot and it will boot fine. Just need to be done every time.

What IOS is your 3750E running, Mark?

I actually just thew 15.0.2-SE2 on it this morning in hopes that it would fix it.

If it doesn't work, downgrade to 12.2(55)SE7.

15.0.2-SE2 and 12.2(55)SE7 both do the same thing. Any other ideas?

I have a 3750-E that is doing the same thing. When I power it up it, much like Duncan's, it only displays:
Using driver version 1 for media type 2
Base ethernet MAC Address: 00:22:90:28:ab:00
Xmodem file system is available.
The password-recovery mechanism is enabled.
And then hangs. When I hold the mode button down during the boot sequence I'm able to boot the switch my manually initializing the flash and booting the switch.
Using driver version 1 for media type 2
Base ethernet MAC Address: 00:22:90:28:ab:00
Xmodem file system is available.
The password-recovery mechanism is enabled.
The system has been interrupted prior to initializing the
flash filesystem. The following commands will initialize
the flash filesystem, and finish loading the operating
system software:
flash_init
boot
switch: flash_init

And the boot sequence finishes just fine.
I'm suspecting a corrupt flash too so I performed an fsck on the flash and everythignt reported back okay. I've even tried re-applying the software through the archive download-sw command just in case that re-writes the boot sector of the flash but it had no affect. So I'm to the point of re-formating the flash and seeing if that does anything. I'll report back if it helps.

Did anyone get anywhere with this other than RMA?
