6509 Switchport issues

Hello Everyone,

We have a design of two 6509 running in a VSS with dual supervisor each having fthree 10/100/1000mb etherner modules.

We have diagnosed a wierd problem that none of the switchports in module 1 and 2 on either switches are having layer2/layer 3 connectivity.

Tried everything from changing the cables to changing the end device but no luck with it.

Module results show pass and no errors in the logging.

Just wondering if anyone has encountered this problem earlier? Help would be appreciated.

Hi,

  • Is the first time you are installing these 10/100/1000mb ethernet module on VSS environment?
  • You said that you have 3 module on each switch but module 1 and 2 are not working. does all are same type of module?
  • Did you try to perform shut / unshut the interfaces (You might have done this but thought to reconfirm)
  • Were these modules worked earlier in VSS setup?
  • Did you perform any change?
  • Could you share the below capture to understand the type of module and enviroment status

#show module switch all

#show diagnostic result switch <switch number> module <module number> detail

#show switch virtual redundancy

#show redundancy states

#show power switch all

For your information, i am sharing the HW requirement once again here,

  • The VSS requires 67xx series switching modules.
  • The VSS does not support classic, CEF256, or dCEF256 switching modules. In virtual switch mode, unsupported switching modules remain powered off.
