6880X VSS loading failure

Our 6880X VSS pair was powered down for a move and now the secondary 6880X won't come back online.  It seems to be stuck in a booting loop.  Any idea what the problem is?  I tried resetting the supervisor with reset button and hard rebooting a couple of times.  The LED status lights are red for both Fan status and supervisor.

 

See console messages below.

FYI this was the solution and syntax  to load IOS from USB

 

rommon> BOOT=disk0:c6880x-adventerprisek9-mz.SPA.155-1.SY5.bin
confreg 0x2102
sync
reset

 

then i copied image from USB  to bootdisk and changed boot statement in running config.

Suggest to remove all the cables, so at lease One of the active switch in VSS work as expected.

 

Connect the console cable and try to load Image with USB/Flash card and see if that works?

You have two issues.  

  1. The firmware is corrupt.  Console into the appliance and break into ROMMON, post the complete output to the command "dir":  I want to see if there is more than one IOS file or not.  If there is only one, the 6840 supports USB boot (if you can find a compatible USB thumb drive) and this will save plenty of time uploading the firmware via ROMMON.
  2. Issue number 2 is the choice of IOS version that the platform is trying to boot.  15.5(1)SY1 is buggy.

"disk0:" means the external CF port of the supervisor card.  

"dir usb0:" is the "location" of the USB port.

ok, I will try to boot from usb0 tomorrow.  Any idea why "dir" or "dir bootdisk:" doesnt provide any output?

It will not work if the ":" is not included.  

If there is no CF, then the command "dir disk0:" will always be empty.

I think I know what is also going on:  I suspect the boot variable string is pointing to the "wrong" location.  

The correct boot string should be: 

boot system flash bootflash:IOS_filename.bin

You are probably correct however I'm not able to change boot string because I'm not able to reach config terminal.
