Can somebody help me how to implement access-list in 3500 Series XL Switch. If you have link for guides on this one it would be appreciated.

Hi John,
The 3500XL is purely a layer 2 switch and won't support ACL.

Thanks for the reply. But how come I can issues access-list commands in the switch?

The command is there because of catOS, but the hardware does not support it

3500 XL is only a layer-2 switch and does not have a layer-3
functionality. That implies that 3500 XL switches do not support the configuring of ACLs.
The only option is to suppress or control mac-addresses on ports is called Port Security.
Basically with this feature you will allow or restrict certain
mac-addresses or a maximum amount on a per-port-basis.
Here is the config guide for port-security:
