C3650 ip routing not enabled

hi.

I have a C3650 switch.
And knew that the C3650 has a switch Layer 2 Lan base license.
So I did not have 'ip routing' settings.(only 'ip default-gateway set)

After a long period of time.
Made sure that the packet latency that occurs.

Checking the switch but does not discover the problem.

I coincidence to see a switch order document.

lan base in order not confirmed that the 'ipbase'.

If you do not have 'ip routing settings on the switch that has ipbase license,

Q1>Are latency occurs when the destination can be returned for a packet switch?

Q2>Do CEF operates? ( ip routing not enabled)

Please point.

Lanbase is pure layer2 don't think you will get cef , no requirement for ip routing either as it doesn't support intervlan routing you need ipbase or ipservice for that , does support statics

switching traffic can be faster than routing as its by hardware and one less layer so really it should not introduce latency unless something else is wrong on the lan

do you have an example of what your seeing to show the latency and bit more information regarding it ?

C3650 switch is IP-based license.

However, I use only the L2 features.

made a  SVI in order to use the switch management IP.

And the ICMP check to the switch management IP using monitoring tools.

However, this delay occurs.

I wonder if this is not associated with the 'IP routing' configuration.

This is not accurate test and never will be as your pinging mgmt. ip which is vlan id , pinging vlan packets get punted to cpu if same vlan  and fluctuation in cpu will cuase irregularities in icmp test , process switched if  sent fromanother vlan so the test will be based on resources ,if you want to test latency on the network use an ip sla with responder so its accurate , pinging gateways and vlan ids will not give you an accurate test
