C4500 Sup Redundancy OS upgrade.

Good morning.


I am trying to upgrade the C4500 engine redundant equipment to the OS.

 

Current version: 3.4.0SG
Current ROMMON: 15.0(1r)SG5
New version: 3.11.3aE
New ROMMON: 15.0(1r)SG10

mode sso

 

It is operating in SSO mode.

 

However, in order to go from 3.4.0 to 3.11.3, we need to upgrade ROMMON to 15.0(1r)SG10 first.
I have completed the procedure below using the guided documentation and the method seen by the community.
Please help me to make sure the procedure is correct.

 

-Active SUP(Slot 5)
1.no boot system flash bootflash:cat4500e-universalk9.SPA.03.04.00.SG.151-2.SG.bin
2.boot system flash bootflash:cat4500-e-ios-promupgrade-150-1r-SG10
3.boot system flash bootflash:cat4500e-universalk9.SPA.03.11.03a.E.152-7.E3a.bin
4.config-register 0x2102
5. write
6. show bootvar
7. redundancy force-switchover
7-1. Active SUP Upgrade....
7-2. Active SUP Upgrade Complete.
7-3. show redundancy (Booting and SSO check)

 

-Standby SUP(Slot 6)
8. no boot system flash slavebootflash:cat4500e-universalk9.SPA.03.04.00.SG.151-2.SG.bin
9.boot system flash slavebootflash:cat4500-e-ios-promupgrade-150-1r-SG10

14-1. Standby SUP Upgrade.

16. As a result, Slot 5 operates as Act, Slot 6 Std.

 

There is a lot of downtime.
Is the procedure above correct?

Which procedure is correct?

This is NOT necessary if the redundant supervisor card is in the same chassis as the primary supervisor card.

If that was me, I would just issue the "reload" command.

Finally, why choose 15.0(1r)SG10?  This file was released back on 03 July 2014.  

I would recommend going straight to 15.0(1r)SG16 instead.

If so, will procedures 8~13 disappear?
Simply through redundancy force-switchover
Is the process complete by simply switching the engine?

The sup model is 7-e.
So I can't use that version.
I am going to proceed with the minimum ROMMON version in the guide.
As you said, in step 14 I will reboot the entire chassis via reload.

After reloading at number 14
Is the active engine slot 5?
Or is slot 6 active before reloading?

What's your opinion on tesk 2?
I think tesk 2 is cleaner.
But there is no way to verify it.
