C9300X-24Y-A or C9500-24X-A

Hi All,

We are upgrading our two Core L3 switches but are having difficulty deciding between the two models listed below:

 - C9300X-24Y-A

 - C9500-24X-A

Both of them met our needs or requirements; we're just contemplating which of the two to use in the long-term.

Your professional recommendations will be greatly appreciated.

If you are traditional Stacking - then you need to go with  C9300 Models, which you can stack up to 7 switches.

If this is Core switch replacement, then C9500 is the right model for Core and Distribution, (i do not recommend this for Access switch here)

Limitation of this is these model only support 2 be part of VSS / SVL ( like stacking - not exactly kinda )

Compare the prices between the two.  We did and we decided on the 9500. 

The only difference between 9300X and 9500 is the 9300X can be stacked with other 9300X or 9300 (but not 9300L). 

However, someone from Cisco decided to make the 9300X more expensive than the 9500 and 9400 chassis.

In addition to other comments, traditionally, the 9300 is an access switch vs the 9500 is a core switch. So, since the 9500 is a core switch, it does not support POE. So, if you are planning to connect end devices that POE to the core, then you would need to use the 9300.
