Hi,

Are there any non-proprietary high availability protocol that I can use for C9500 switches besides from Stackwise-Virtual? As much as possible, I want both of my switches be in active-active.

Thanks

There is no other option that will provide you with similar functionality(unified management, SSO etc.). You can however use open standard protocols for specific functionality, like using VRRP for FHRP for example. We can make suggestions on that if you provide more detail on what features the switch will be using.

Hi,

In a StackWise virtual configuration, both of your switches will be actively forwarding data traffic. From the control plane perspective, switch-1 is the active switch, and switch-2 is on standby until switch-1 fails.

To support what kind of active-active processing?

For example, with multiple VLANs, you might manually split them across two devices using MST.

As L3 switches, you can also split subnet gateways between them too.  Unsure whether you might split them within the same subnet using VRRP (supporting mHSRP like support).

Short answer from me NO.

i agree with other posters you can use different methods to split the load, but you will not get Full HA like SSO (using SVL)
