cant wr or copy run start

hi all,
before on this switch (nexus 7000) i could do a "wr" or "copy run start" no problem but now i get this
wr
[########################################] 100%
Configuration update aborted: request was aborted

mmm.... but mine is
version 6.2(20)
and i have another nexus but that is letting me do a "wr" "copy run start"

I checked for bugs, the below one is not exactly what you are experiencing, but try the suggested workaround:

Symptom:
A Nexus 7000 system may not be able to save its configuration and log the following
errors:

1. Manually backup the current config
2. Erase the config with "write erase"

ok ive backup up the runing config to my tftp via this
copy running-config tftp:
how do i manually restore as i wouldnt be able to do this as i have "wr er" so when i reboot i couldnt even ssh as all my config is erased
copy tftp: running-config
would i just console into the switch and literally copy/paste my backup config to the running config

Hello,
good question. I guess when they say 'manually restore' without specifying what exactly that means, they imply that you indeed console into the switch and configure basic connectivity to (in your case) TFTP server, then get the full config from there...

so basically configure the bare min to get tftp working ie configure vlan, vlan ip, interface port ie make it access so i can copy the running config back to it?

exactly. That is how I interpret 'manually restore'. The idea is, obviously, that you do this only once, and afterwards, you can save the config normally...

so when i do a
copy run tftp
wr erase
reload
when it reloads will it be set to factory

my worry is when i do a reload it wont come back good ie it will go in a loop as it wont find boot file?

Hello,
in theory it should load to factory defaults...
That said, what (if you have not tried that before) happens if you just reboot the Nexus, with the current config ? Maybe the problem solves itself that way as well...

yes thanks just reload the switch first to see if solves, will do, let you know, wont be straight away as got to go higher up the ranks to do this
