cat1200 firmware v4.1.4.1 and i have configured the global configuraiton.

Hi,

Can you please configure "dot1x port-control auto" first under the interface and then check if that makes any progress.

Thanks & Regards,

Antonin

@passakorn.m

You can see on the document that the command is

dot1x authentication [802.1x] [mac] [web]

Meaning, you need to choose which one you are going to use.

Parameters

  • 802.1x—Enables authentication based on 802.1X (802.1X-based authentication).

  • mac—Enables authentication based on the station's MAC address (MAC-Based authentication).

  • web—Enables WEB-Based authentication.

The way you ran the command is not right.

Can you post show run

I have the same question with you .

New Device C1200-48T-4G

I try to upgrade IOS .  But it's not working too.

CISCO Document Link:

https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/switches/campus-lan-switches-access/Catalyst-1200-and-1300-Switches/cli/C1200-cli/802_1X_Commands.html

C1200 not support 802.1x MAC-Based authentication , i just have confirmation from Cisco TAC

That's really a pity.

I just confuse that why CISCO document expland how to config that.

That's make me confused.

What´s about the c1300?

Marce1000, You are pointing to Cisco official documentation. How do you know if it is not fake ?

As passacorn.m mentioned, official documentation to C1200 (https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/switches/campus-lan-switches-access/Catalyst-1200-and-1300-Switches/cli/C1200-cli/802_1X_Commands.html#wp6358060930) says that C1200 supports dot1x authentication [802.1x] [mac] [web]

@passakorn.m The Catalyst 1200 series switches do not support 802.1X MAC-Based Authentication, despite what the CLI guide may suggest. The commands you're trying to enter aren't available because the hardware or software version on the C1200 doesn't support this feature. It's possible the guide covers multiple models, and some features may only apply to specific ones. You can confirm this by checking the switch's data sheet or the feature compatibility matrix for your exact model and IOS version.

@passakorn.m  - No, Cisco Catalyst 1200 does NOT support 802.1X MAC-Based Authentication. The CLI guide may mention 802.1X for other higher-end models, but Catalyst 1200 lacks full support for advanced AAA features.

Thanks !
