Hi,
I have a Cisco 3650 running software version 03.06.03E.
I noticed that I cannot set the encapsulation to dot1q even though I have configured the port as a trunk.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Current configuration : 248 bytes
!
interface GigabitEthernet1/0/1
description Switchport Trunk Configuration
switchport access vlan 999
switchport trunk native vlan 998
switchport trunk allowed vlan 998,999
switchport mode trunk
switchport nonegotiate
load-interval 30
end
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
When I look at the interface configuration, it says its a trunk port.
switch#sh interfaces g1/0/1 trunk
Port Mode Encapsulation Status Native vlan
Gi1/0/1 on 802.1q other 998
Port Vlans allowed on trunk
Gi1/0/1 none
Port Vlans allowed and active in management domain
Gi1/0/1 none
Port Vlans in spanning tree forwarding state and not pruned
Gi1/0/1 none
switch#
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So I believe that if a port is made a trunk port, the encapsulation mode by default would be a 802.1q. Would that be correct ?
Thank you.
Cheers,
SN
