Hello Guys,
i have 3850 switch stack with 4 members and i am going to add 5th member into this.
Can you please help me in detailed steps to be carried out for this stack member insertion.
KABZ1061#sh switch
Switch/Stack Mac Address : 50f7.226a.fb80 - Local Mac Address
Mac persistency wait time: Indefinite
H/W Current
Switch# Role Mac Address Priority Version State
------------------------------------------------------------
*1 Active 50f7.226a.fb80 1 V02 Ready
2 Member ec1d.8b18.0680 1 V02 Ready
3 Standby 50f7.2297.5500 1 V02 Ready
4 Member 50f7.2297.6800 1 V02 Ready
As i checked on Web, i have made below steps.Can you plz validate this.
1. Ensure master switch have high priority.
2. set priority of new switch to 1
3. configure below comand for new switch provision on master
ex.
switch 5 provision ws-c3850-24p(model number)
4. check ios of new switch(it should have same with all members)
5.connect stack cables ( while connecting cables New switch should be power OFF, stack can keep powered on)
6.Power ON New switch, it will get added in stack

Hi Leo,
thanks for your reply. One more query i am having.
While inserting new member(in powered off state) to existing stack(in powered on state), when we remove stack cable from switch 1 and 4 (because we need to insert stack cable from switch 4 to 5),
any impact on current stack?
Also can you share any useful link.

Hai vineet
stack cables should be connected from ports 2 of first switch to port 1 of second switch,again port 2 of that switch to port 1 of next switch, like wise all switches,switch number 4 second port should be connected to 1st port of first switch with a big cable.
after doing steps given by leo power on it ,This will add to stack
