I have few cisco classic series switches connected with each other via trunk port config. Having port inconsistency issue at one departmental switch with Core switch. Requesting for some assistance to sort the issue
At core switch I see inconsistency errors for port connected with one particular departmental switch
on Core Switch uplink going to department switch is
interface TenGigabitEthernet1/0/13 description Trunk_Going_2_Deartment_SW switchport mode trunk
on Department switch trunk port going to core switch
interface TenGigabitEthernet1/1/3 description Trunk_UPlink_Going_to_Core_SW switchport mode trunk
on Core Switch , I see errors for the trunk port (connected with departmental switch)

First i would check, is the VTP running on both side as Server, if so make VTP transparent both the sides (if you do not need VTP here)
show vtp - provide you information.
can you post below information : (in text file attachement)
show span summary
show span root
show spann details

CORE Switch running as VTP Server and Branch running as Transparent.
If you do not need VTP Server, Disable to Transparent.
CORE Switch has different VLAN compare to Branch. try below config and let us know is that fix the issue ?
nterface TenGigabitEthernet1/0/13 description Trunk_Going_2_Deartment_SW
witchport trunk allowed vlan 1,9,24,30,40,99 switchport mode trunk
on Department switch trunk port going to core switch

witchport trunk allowed vlan 1,9,24,30,40,99 switchport mode trunk

you run in one SW RSTP and in other you run R-PVST
these are complete two different STP mode
so you must change from RSTP to R-PVST

Unfortunately this morning (before reading this thread), we tried to upgrade the switch firmware as one of other proposed solution, but during upgrade process it got hung & upon rebooting switch became unresponsive at all.
We have replaced the unit with backup switch. Now we are trying to recover the switch & if it works, we will try the VTP transparent at both ends along with suggested cmd's. Thank you very much for the information & I will update this thread soon.

Sure - let us know the outcome.
I may be glared looking the text file, i see both running same - where do we see different STP modes here ?

VLAN0001 Spanning tree enabled protocol rstp This bridge is the root
I think this Q for me,
sure the summary show R-PVST but for each VLAN I see the mode is RSTP.
