i have a new Cisco Catalyst 2960X-48FPD-L and in the spec sheet (listed below) it shows 48 10/100/1000 Ethernet ports/2 SFP+ ports. but in the CLI it shows this:
interface GigabitEthernet1/0/47
!
interface GigabitEthernet1/0/48
!
interface GigabitEthernet1/0/49
!
interface GigabitEthernet1/0/50
!
interface TenGigabitEthernet1/0/1
!
interface TenGigabitEthernet1/0/2
what are the 1/0/49 and 1/0/50 ports. physicly the switch has 48 10/100/1000 RJ-45 ports, 1 mgmt port 10/100 RJ-45 port, 1 RJ-45 console port, 1 usb consle port, 2 usb ports, 2 SFP+ ports not populated, and a slot for a stacking module not populated
not sure what they are?????? i have to be missing something basic here.

on further research i found the GE 1/0/49-50 are the same as tenGE 1/0/1-2 depending on what SFP on in the slot.

Yes so you have 2 1gig and 2 10gig interfaces.

not really, i only have 2 SFP ports labeled SFP+ 1 and 2

Ok, so if you use SFP (1Gig) the ports are 49 and 50 but if you use SFP+ the ports are 1/0/1-2 right?

thats my take on it lol, i think they should have labeled interface TenGigabitEthernet1/0/1-2 interface SFPEthernet1/0/1-2 or somthing like that. but i guess it works hahahaha

49 and 50 are your 1gig uplink ports
