Cisco Catalyst 3550 24 port..Lights all flashing, no connectivity?

We are having some issues in our Elementary school.  When we left on Friday, everything was in perfect working order.  When we came back, a lot of computers were saying network cable unplugged.  I opened the switch box, and one of our 3550's is blinking all lights on and off.

At first I thought it may have been a broadcast storm, or loop.  I don't believe that is what is occurring, because the unused ports are blinking as well.  Even the status indicator lights on the far left are blinking simultaneously, four to five times a second.  I went into all the rooms to ensure nobody had added anything to the network without permission.  Everything checked out fine.

There are two switches in which the 3550 is interconnected, and both of them are working flawlessly.  I am, however, unable to ping or console in to the ailing switch.

I physically unhooked each port one by one, giving each one about a minute.  I was hoping that possibly this would help me isolate the issue, however the problem never let up.

I turned off all power to the drop box, and started power back up.  Both the PoE switch and the WORKING 3550 came up with amber lights as they started up, and eventually turned green, as they always do.  The ailing switch IMMEDIATELY starts blinking all lights on and off.  I can not communicate with it at all!  Even wireshark captures 0 packets.

I've reached the end of my troubleshooting knowledge.  Does anyone have any advice or information that would be helpful?

Thanks in advance, I really appreciate it!

It seems that you have done most of the troubleshooting needed here

Can you turn off the switch, hold the mode button key that is in the front and then turn on the switch and see if it takes you to Rommon?

If this does not help, then I think you have hardware failure and if you have SmartNet contract, RMA it.

Plug into the ailing switch and reboot it and watch what its telling you. My guess it will tell its failed POST as it reboots . Sounds like its time to replace it , but verify thru the logs .
