Hi all,
i have 3 cisco cat 9200 switches is stack with version 16.9.4 running on all. Now i need to add a 4th switch which is recently purchased and it came up with version 17.03.03
My question is do i need to upgrade the software of all the old switches from 16.9 to 17.03 or shall i just add the 4th switch to the stack and the 4th switch will download 16.9 version from the Master switch??

My take as below :
if the new switch can able to downgrade (some dont) then downgrade to 16.9 (if you do not like any downtime)
if you looking to the apportunity upgrade, take advantage of situation and upgrade to 17.3.3 or 17.3.4 which ever suitable and works for you.,
make sure you read the release notes before you upgrading old switch to new version.

Thanks balaji for the comment.
So it means the new switch will not download the firmware from the Master Sw as 16.9
Becoz i do not need any downtime.

i do not believe it does, ( i tried upgrade, never seen or tried downgrade).
17.X is good moving forward.

Hello,
I successfully added the member switch into the stack.
The master switch did the autoupgrade for the new member sw.
Thanks all for the comments.

REMINDER:
Check the Release Notes for the switches and make sure the exact model of the new switch member is supported in 16.9.X. Not all model of switches can work with 16.9.X.
