Hi guys,
Just curious to know. What programming language is used to write the Cisco IOS?
Thanks.

IOS, for the most part it seems, is written in C.

C should be the language used for the IOS. Also, most of the high end routers have support for Tcl right from the command line.
Hope this helps.

Hi
I believe the IOS is written with a combination of C and assembly. The hardware management in an IOS seems to be written with assembly language and the user console with C.
This is in my opinion only/
