Is there a way to clear the configuration off a single interface in one shot, and set it back to defaults? I have a 6509 running an IOS.

You can use the "default interface" command.
switch(config)#default interface gi 1/1

That was it...I was hunting for it and now that I see it I remember....I was doing it interface gi 1/1 default and tried clear interface gi 1/1.
