Hi All,
What command can we use to check the type of SFP inserted in a switch or Router? I needed to check if the blade in my 4500 switch is populated with any SFPs? Will the command be applicable for other series of Catalyst switches as well?
Appreciate your help.
Cheers
Navneet

Transmit power is typically good when it is in the 6 dB range between -1 and -7 dBm. Receive power is normally expected between - 1 and -9.9 dBm.

Hi All,
On Switch we can check the SFPs Model/Serial number by the well know commands like "show inventory" or also we can get some details about SFPs with the help of command "show interface status" and there are multiple help article on internet they can help us to get the details of Switch SFPs.
However for Router like Cisco ASR1001-X when we need to check the SFPs details then we also get confuse with "subslot and transceiver"
So to check the details information about port and SFPs you can use the below commands. (here it's output of ASR1001-X) Router
Deepak_Kumar#show hw-module interface Gi0/0/0 transceiver idprom brief
IDPROM for transceiver GigabitEthernet0/0/0:
Description = SFP or SFP+ optics (type 3)
Transceiver Type: = GE SX (19)
Product Identifier (PID) = GLC-SX-MMD
Vendor Revision = 1.0
Serial Number (SN) = <<<<<REMOVED>>>>>
Vendor Name = CISCO
Vendor OUI (IEEE company ID) = <<<<<REMOVED>>>>>
CLEI code = <<<<<REMOVED>>>>>
Cisco part number = <<<<<REMOVED>>>>>
Device State = Disabled.
Date code (yy/mm/dd) = <<<<<REMOVED>>>>>
Connector type = LC.
Encoding = <<<<<REMOVED>>>>>
NRZ
Nominal bitrate = GE (1300 Mbits/s)
Minimum bit rate as % of nominal bit rate = not specified
Maximum bit rate as % of nominal bit rate = not specified

For different Router like ASR-1001 this command can be used: The example show the output for the 6th transceiver in Modul 0/0.

The Transceiver in slot 0 subslot 0 port 6 is enabled.
Module temperature = +30.964 C
Transceiver Tx supply voltage = 3285.4 mVolts
Transceiver Tx bias current = 9088 uAmps
Transceiver Tx power = -5.1 dBm
Transceiver Rx optical power = -5.7 dBm
