Come to think of it, what is a reasonable cpu utilization to set my snmp trap for alerts? Because, I set the trap but, didn't create a threshold. I think the commands are:
Switch(config)# process cpu threshold type total rising 1-100.
or
Switch(config)# process cpu threshold type process rising 1-100.
Also, what difference in reporting should I expect between these two commands?
Thanks, Pat.

Myself I wouldn't trap it until it hit at least 80% on todays switches .

Hi Pat,
First of all you need to enable snmp traps by using below command.
snmp-server enable traps cpu threshold
And to configure everything like CPU thresholds, snmp-server and to send cpu utilization traps to server please see the bleow link will help you.

I am enabling traps and a threshold but, I just don't know what the threshold is. Thanks for the like. I'll give it a read.

I've found that our 3500s are the only ones that run that high. 3560s and 3570s are ok with 80%? That seems kind of high.
