Connect Cisco SG350-10P to WS-C3750G-12S via SFP - Possibly

Hi All,

I'm planning on replacing a C3560-24TS switch (currently connected via single mode fibre/SFP) with a SG350-10P switch.

The distribution switch which 'feeds' this location is a stacked C3750G-12S. Will be using Cisco original SFP's.

Would the new C3560-24TS be compatible with the older distribution switch?

Would the switch need any special configuration to make the units communicate?

Thanks!

Connecting both switches will be fine, set up a trunk in the same way you would connect to the existing switch.

Thanks Shaps, I'll give that a go, just wanted to make sure there wouldn't be any clash of protocols due to the age difference of the two devices. Cisco switches seem to be pretty good when it comes to backwards compatibility.

Hi,

As you said that you were using SG350 so the configuration will be stationward for the new switch. I don't think anything will make an issue for you.

You can follow the below steps:

1. Make all VLANs on the new switch, Assign IP on the management VLAN, define default-gateway (If you found IP routing command then remove the command "no ip routing").

2. Assign VLANs to all ports as required.

3. Configure SSH/Telnet/Http/Https as required.

4. Configure a trunk port which will communicate with Distribution switch.

5. Save configuration and plug the switch in the network and test it.
