Connecting 9300L to HP

Hi,

I need to connect C9300L to an HP Switch to forward vlans traffic. The management vlan is vlan5. HP Switch configuration is as follows. There is no configuration in Cisco 9300L Switch at the moment. I also want to use C9300L as a wireless controller without enabling its L3 functionality. Is it possible?

Running configuration:

Thanks.

You can try below on Cat 9300 :

interface GigabitEthernet 1/0/1 (connecting port to HP

switchport mode trunk

switchport trunk native vlan 5

switchport trunk alloed vlan 5, x, y  (x,y) - other vlan you want to allow in the trunk.

Note : make sure Spanning tree config also

Lookout if you looking Cat 9300L as EWC :

there are many issue here
1- the trunk and STP mode between HP and cisco 9300, we talk about this later
2- which device will be GW for wifi client ?

Gateway will be another vlan on HP Switch 10.1.40.1. I have to add this to Cisco as well.

Does the cisco switch acting as router, then you need static routing towards HP switch.

No. Cisco switch is an access switch. Not working after configuring Cisco Switch.

Switch#

make sure you created VLAN in switch

config t

vlan5,29

end

If you like to use Management VLAN 5 as default then you need to add :

interface GigabitEthernet1/0/48

switchport trunk native vlan 5
switchport trunk allowed vlan 1,5,29
switchport mode trunk

since this is layer 2  this gateway to be point to VLAN 5 IP address of HP switch

ip default-gateway 10.2.2.X (X - change to HP side IP address of VLAN 5)

By default all the ports are in Cisco switch belong to VLAN 1 - if you do not have vlan 1

if you like to change to VLAN 5 or 29 you need add below configuration to ports :

interface GigabitEthernet1/0/1

switchport access vlan5

no shutdown

still not working post below output :

show run

show interface status

show vlan

Yes, I can reach the HP Switch now but the pc connected to Cisco is unable to get the ip address from the DHCP Server configured as a DHCP-Helper in HP Core Switch for vlan 29. Here is the config now.

How to Ask The Cisco Community for Help

Hi,

Yes, I have removed interface vlan 29 but I need vlan 29 because the users will connect to Cisco Switch and use vlan 29. The HP Switch configuration I posted is for an access switch between HP Core and Cisco. All the VLAN routing is through the HP Core Switch. That's why vlan 29 does not exist in the middle switch. I can ping Cisco Switch from HP Core Switch but cannot reach vlan29 10.1.29.1 from Cisco Switch.

Do I have to create vlan 29 in the middle HP Switch or is it a configuration issue in the Cisco Switch which I believe is? Below is the current Cisco Config.

How to Ask The Cisco Community for Help

I can reach vlan 29 from Cisco Switch now but the pc connected to the access port is not able to reach and get the IP address from the DHCP server configured in the core switch as a DHCP-helper.

Any Suggestions?

I have just added vlan 29 in the middle switch and I can reach it now.

Thanks.
