We are working with a contractor to upgrade our network, and I heard from them that the 5596/5548 might not need the Layer 3 module for our inter-VLAN routhing. They have yet to give me an answer.
Does anyone know if this is true? We do have a few static routes on our current layer-3, core switch too. I'm not sure if that matters either.
Thanks!

If you are trying to routes between vlans ( inter-VLAN routing) on the 5500, you need a layer-3 daughter card.

Not the answer that I was hoping for, but at least I know now. Thanks for the quick reply.
