Etherchannel Load Balancing methods

what is the default ether-channel load balancing method on Cisco switches or does it varies based on platforms? I couldn't find any document that says about the "default" method.

It varies based on platforms.  For most small switches (3560, 3650, 3750, etc) it is usually source mac and for chassis based switches source IP based.
