Explanation about "rep block port preferred vlan" command

Hi,

within a ring topology with REP protocol I have to insert 3 new switches. At the moment the ring has an "Open REP" type configuration, the 2 edge switches PC1 and PC2 are connected to each other but the REP does not run on this link.

Here the rep port configuration for PC1 and PC2:

PC1

interface GigabitEthernet0/16
description Anello M4
port-type nni
switchport mode trunk
rep segment 4 edge primary
rep preempt delay 15
rep block port preferred vlan 1-4094

PC2

interface GigabitEthernet0/16
description Anello M4
port-type nni
switchport mode trunk
rep segment 4 edge

Herewith attached also the output of "sh rep topology".

My doubt is about the command "rep block port preferred vlan 1-4094" what does this command specifically do? Apply load balancing and choose the port to alternate?

not sure what model of the switch and IOS code running.

the command "rep block port preferred vlan 1-4094" tells to PC2 which vlan it should block
