Factory Reset CATALYST 2960X

Hello,

We were using a new Catalyst 2960X without any sort of special configurations as a Layer 2 switch. Unfortunately I do not have the IP address nor the user name and password to reset it. Tried "Press and hold the Mode button. The switch LEDs begin blinking after about 3 seconds. Continue holding down the Mode button. The LEDs stop blinking after 7 more seconds, and the switch reboots."

But STAT STACK and SPEED LEDs start blinking when using above method.

I require IP and Login Credentials for a console connection which unfortunately I don't have.

You do not like to console and expect the device to be factory reset and ready to use. - I believe as I remember, you need to reset and do a basic setup (some questions asked on the console). watch video for factory reset, connect console cable and see what is processing, Once you have switch> means you an use as just dumb switch all going to be VLAN 1 (make sure you do not connect any other switches with default config - that is security risk)

I tried the steps of video. But in my case, the STAT, SPEED and STACK LED keep on blinking.

you should have to connect the console cable to the laptop if dont have serial port on the laptop you will required serial to USB connector install the connector driver ( if required ) check the com port on the laptop device manager that the console cable detected - open putty and click on the serial option and putt com port and access.

them perform the password recovery..
