get console from vss standby device

Two 4500x devices are in VSS. secondary device is in standby mode..after taking console it shows standby  after hostname into brackets. this standby mode doesn't allow to configure device like primary....

unlike in cisco stack device if we connect console cable to any member switch it provides console of master device

In vss, when secondary device is kept far away from primary...& in emergencies how to take console from standby i.e. secondary device to configure further.. or can we configure device through secondary device without disturbing their active/standby roles.

Please let me know all options accordingly.

That is the correct behavior. You can not make any config changes using the standby switch.  You can only make changes using the primary. No matter how far the devices are from each other, there is really no need to use the standby switch, as when you make a config change to the primary, it will propagate it into the standby switch.

This is the correct behaviour.  Configuration can only be done on the ACTIVE unit.

Not possible.  Not on a VSS.  In VSS the ACTIVE always synchronizes the configuration to the secondary.
