HI,

1. it is same HW. according to your captures (WS-C3850-48P)

2. do a full clear for second switch by erasing startup and running configs. then connect both switches to gather using stack cables and powerup.

Hi @Kasun Bandara

the first switch

*1 Active 204c.9efc.4f80 13 V05 Ready

second switch

*5 Active 8890.8d19.3600 11 V04 Ready

first one shows hw version v05 and second v04

Do I need to add on the first switch "switch 2  provision " command before connecting the second  switch  to the  first switch  ?

Thanks

Hi,

1. that is ok. version changes are not an issue. but install-bundle mode need to be same. saw it after mansion by leo.

2. no. just connect it with stack cables. then use 'show switch' command to identify each switch and un provision other unused stack provisions.

Switch members must either boot into Install Mode OR Bundle Mode and not both.

Hi,

As I know from  install mode we can change to bundle .From Bundle mode How can i change from bundle to install mode

Thanks

software install file flash:IOS_FILENAME.bin new force verb on-reboot

Do not forget to change the boot variable string to point to packages.conf.

Hi,

you mean  "boot system switch all flash:packages.conf" ?

c

Thanks

Yes but remove the previous boot variable string first and add that.  Save the config and verify with the command "sh boot".

Hi,

I tried the below getting  "% Switch 5 must be running installed software to perform this operation"

software install file flash:cat3k_caa-universalk9ldpe.SPA.03.06.08.E.152-2.E8.bin new force verbose on-reboot

boot variable changed  to flash:packages.conf;

Current Boot Variables:
BOOT variable = flash:packages.conf;

Boot Variables on next reload:
BOOT variable = flash:cat3k_caa-universalk9ldpe.SPA.03.06.08.E.152-2.E8.bin;

stack rule both should be same mode and same verion code (most of time)

So make sure you also remove other switch provisioning from SW1 renumber switch 5 to switch to (make it Install mode) easy to fix.

Hi @balaji.bandi

SW1 renumber switch 5 to switch two , Do I need to do  on switch 2 before adding to the stack

Thanks

how many switches in stack ? are they 5 or 2 ?

if Only 2

Offline (each switch)

i choose which  to be switch 1 and master ( then i renumber that switch 1 and priority 15 start with)

Secondary Switch  renumber to 2 with lower priorty than 15 like 14

save the config of each switch (make sure version corrected)

connect the stack cable.

switch on master switch, and slave switch ( connect your console always to master switch)

Once both booted, show switch you see both in stack.

Hope this helps you high level.
