Hi All,
I am getting high ping when pinging my stack switch SVI (3750 series). it varies but averages over 100ms. When I ping the router which is connected to theswitch it is less then <1ms.
So the switch I am directly connected gives a high ping but the pinging the router 1 hop away is giving less then <1ms. I have checked ports for any errors and there were none on the switch!
has anyone had this problem before? I am going to change the IOS to see if it resolves the issue but any other suggestions appreciated.
Thanks

Pinging an SVI interface is not a good indicator of response time as the switch gives ICMP response a very low priority . To get accurate response times you must ping thru the switch or to a active device in the same vlan as the SVI .

Thanks for the response, I will investigate further.
