I have 6504 connected to an Enterasys N3 that I cannot manage and the guys that do aren't very helpful so I don't know much about the Enterasys side other than that it is running MST. There's an ethernet trunk between the two and I'm trying to get that link to become the root port on the Cisco side.
I've tried lowering the cost and priority of the port, but it doesn't seem to work. I'm trying to get the guys to lower the priority of their MST instance, but if they don't do that, then is there a way to force a port to become root on the 6504?

You want the port to be root on the Cisco? What is the role now? Can you paste output.
