My problem is, I tried doing HSRP 1 before using a packet tracer and thought that since it was successful, I might do it here in this new switch but after reading some articles HSRP 1 is gone and here comes HSRP 2 but after I typed in the
"interface vlan XXX"
"ip address XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX subnet"
"standby version 2" command is not available nor the standby XX ipXXX. is not available either.
I'm stuck with this problem right now, appreciate any help from you guys.
Thanks
Jeff

Hello Jeff,
we were also pretty astonished the moment we realized, that our brand new 3850 did not support HSRP. This feature was introduced in a later IOS-XE version. At the moment we run 03.06.00.E on our WS-C3850-24T and this version does support HSRP.
I can absolutely not understand, why Cisco released such an not-finished switch/software combo.
So, please try a newer software version.
Cheers

Supplemental: Cisco Feature Navigator (http://tools.cisco.com/ITDIT/CFN/jsp/by-feature-technology.jsp) says: HSRP is supported since Version 3.3.0

In fairness to Cisco, I'm having some trouble why there would be a need to run HSRP/VRRP/GLBP on a stackable switch?
The whole point of going with stacks is so first-hop redundancy protocols are not needed.

In my case a pair of 3650 not colocated therfore not stackable.

Hi ichnafi, apologies for the late update, as you mentioned, issue was resolved as soon as i upgraded to 03.06 BUT!!!! Vrrp and gldp are still not visible! Though we wont use it but why remove those features. Ive gone thru cisco tac which assisted me in ios upgrade. Im happy issue has been resolved.
Thank you and have a great day ahead

Also, LAN-BASE does not include this feature. I was quite surprised at this as a 2960X can do HSRP.
